Life Bottles

So! This is a new concept I've been working on called "life bottles". I originally got the idea from some jewellery in a catalogue that my Mom gets - they were called Moments or something like that... Basically they were glass lockets where you could buy the individual charms to go inside that represent key moments of your life like graduation, an engagement, passing your driving test, etc. (hella expensive though, ouch!)

Of course it just gave me random drawing ideas. Lockets were gonna be tricky to draw though, so I ended up going with bottles. Seeing as I just happen to love bottles. I'm planning on eventually getting a tablet at some point (when I have monies again after my car expenses /sob) so I figure the bottles will look much better digitally. For now though I have to experiment with my coloured pencils. Dang, it's hard drawing so tiny!

In my version I decided to make the so-called charms more as key "things", rather than just moments. The charms inside each bottle represent some of the things that are most important to the character. Obviously for my first practices with these I went with some of my most popular OCs! I had a lot of fun designing all the different funky bottles! :3 The colours at the bottom are sand. Some have them and some don't. Some bottles also have more charms than others, depending on the size of the bottle and also just the amount of things that are important to the character.

I said that I wasn't sure whether to offer them as a commission option or not, but several people have already told me that they'd be interested so it's official! I'm adding them to the list!
The idea is basically drawing a character with their "Life Bottle". Inside the bottle are several charms that represent key aspects of their life - whether it's a hobby/interest, something to do with their career, with their independence, a significant other, etc.
The commissions will be 30 per character with their life bottle. It may seem a little steep but it's SO hard to draw those charms so small. My drawings are always on a small portion of a page anyway, so the charms real


Anyway, first bottle is my Harry Potter OC Tee's. Since she has such an issue with being a tiny person I figured I could compensate by giving her a big bottle with lots of sand In hers you can find a blue rose to signify her best friend Rose and an orange W for Weasley. Hmm, I wonder which Weasley that's for... The Lamborghini, platform boots, wand and broomstick are all pretty self-explanatory for parts of her life and hobbies/interests that are important to her.

Second is my Death Note OC Gee's (seriously, why did I ever design characters with rhyming names? I swear it was not intentional T__T) I'm not really sure what I was going for with this bottle - just something a little funky! She obviously loves wolf plushies, perfumes and is addicted to Red Bull. The pineapple is partly for her love for Psych and partly because she just loves pineapples xD The L is of course self-explanatory if you're familiar with Death Note! The magnifying glass signifies her job as a detective and the gun is for her time as a cop.

Third is my Black Butler OC Andie's. I wanted her bottle to be quite small and delicate, just like her! She has no sand - poor girl probably wouldn't even know what it is In hers she has knitting needles and daisies as part of her interests. The stuffed dog and the daisy hair clip are both gifts that she receives (though I won't say who from because I haven't gotten to those parts in her story yet!) Aaand we all know who the hat belongs to!

First bottle on the bottom row is my Vampire Knight OC Harry's. I tried to shape hers a little like an apple. Y'know, part of the whole temptation thing. That becomes quite a big theme in her story. She obviously loves books and she has her favourite childhood lion plushie in there too. That thing at the top is supposed to be a sun that kinda failed xD Because she loves the sun. And the red rose is actually Takuma's corsage. Again, something else to crop up in my story later on Oh! And also my first time drawing Harry where you can see the brown ring in her one eye. Usually I draw her with her coloured contacts in. Because she prefers it that way |D

Second is my Soul Eater OC Brina's. Her bottle needed to be quite kooky like her, but she also has the least charms. She's not a very materialistic sort! The swords signify her twin weapons Adrian and Jesse. Above that is obviously Kid's unimpressed little soul xD The door is the front door to her apartment - living alone is the only part of her life where she's independent and doesn't rely on others, so that's quite a big deal to her. And the penguin's just because she likes penguins. Simples. I also wanted to draw her with her old asymmetrical hair, since I don't draw it quite as often as her new do!

And last is my Durarara!! OC Ritchie's. Her bottle is quite simply shaped like just a regular drinking bottle. Hmm, I wonder why! The Stitch head (no way in hell was I drawing a full-bodied Stitch in there), the high heel and the bottle inside a bottle are all self-explanatory. The electric guitar signifies the kind of music she tends to listen to and the red and black thing that's SUPPOSED to be underwear represents both sex and sexy dancing! I was just not capable of drawing a tiny dancer or pole dancing stage inside that bottle... The little lightning thing at the top is Elvis Presley's trademark "taking care of business" logo for those of you who don't recognise it!
